About a year ago a twinning arrangement was entered into between the Rotary Club of Terrigal and Helderburg Sunrise Rotary Club.  Since that time the twinning committees of the two clubs have held regular Zoom video meetings.  Indeed at one time Terrigal Rotary was invited to and joined the weekly meeting of Helderburg Sunrise via Zoom.  This was good fun and it is hoped we can return the compliment one day.  The Presidents of our Rotaract Clubs have also attended our Zoom meetings with the hope they will also twin.
Our two club have shared regular news letters and ideas for new projects and fund raising opportunities.  The clubs are in fact looking for a joint project.  Water projects have been discussed but nothing decided yet.
A major accomplishment has been our Youth Home Exchange project.  Indeed on the 10th December after a very long journey, Louise Wait arrived from South Africa to stay with a host family in North Avoca.  A teacher of Terrigal High School, Dale Massie, recommended Holly Ayres as a possibility for Home Exchange with Louise Wait.  Holly’s mother Caroline has wholehearted embraced the the project and and put in an enormous amount of time to bring it to fruition.  Caroline simply couldn’t have done more to make the exchange happen.  Caroline, her husband and two daughters will host Louise for a month and Holly Ayres will go to South Africa in April.  Holly is very excited.  Our Club will welcome Louise when both Louise and Holly attend our meeting on 16.12.18.
It is also hoped that Rotarians from Terrigal will visit South Africa in Spring 2019 with Helderburg Sunrise Rotarians visiting us inAutumn 2020.
