Kevin gave us a fascinating insight into the establishment of Justices of the Peace in the UK and how they developed there into magistrates presiding over initial court hearings, deciding bail conditions etc. In Australia, from an initial similarity, our JPs here are responsible for, and limited to, statutory declarations, affidavits and certifications, such as passport applications. The Prodigies Concert was well received at the Laycock Theatre – we were so pleased to be the sponsors of the competition, and they all played extremely well. The overall winner was Bayden Tham, and the winner of ‘the people’s prize’, was Kimberley Gilbert.
