CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH GREAT RESULTS
Over the past year, the Barbara May Foundation has funded projects in Africa managed by Valerie Browning AM and Dr Andrew Browning AM that provided free maternal healthcare and women’s medical services to approximately 16,000 of the most underprivileged and underserviced women in the world.

The services provided include outreach clinics for the women of nomadic tribes in some of the harshest and most remote regions in the world, to building and operating maternity hospitals in three key regional centres providing access to professional medical care, in modern, purpose-built facilities. In addition, Dr Andrew Browning AM, now Chairman of the Fistula and Genital Trauma Committee of the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FIGO), is providing fistula repair surgery at Kivulini Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania, the Barbara May Maternity Hospital in Mille, Ethiopia and by invitation in Dar Es Salaam, Uganda, South Sudan, Nepal and Kenya.

We are proud of these results but aim to continuously improve and expand the services on offer. To celebrate International Women’s Day, please help us to reach more women and provide them with safety, dignity and hope by donating to the Foundation. Thank-you.

THREE TIMES THE JOY
What a wonderful story from Valerie Browning at the Barbara May Maternity Hospital in Mille, Ethiopia. These beautiful triplets were successfully delivered and their mum saved. She arrived from remote Kori in a desperate state with severe eclampsia (high blood pressure and fitting in pregnancy) and heavy bleeding. After an emergency caesarian we welcomed one boy, 1.4kg; and two girls, 2.6kg and 2.4kg. Mum and babies are all doing well!
