Tony Mylan has been a life long educator, and business person.  His association with ET Australia for some twenty five years as the CEO has literally changed thousands of young and young at heart peoples lives.

In his presentation Tony spoke about establishing ET Australia Secondary College following a NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) approved curriculum, with outcomes of around 90% of the graduates engaging in further studies or a career.

Tony outlined that students were taught  with a  focus on literacy, numeracy and work ethic, students enjoy learning the fundamentals.

Tony spoke proudly of his academic staff who were both qualified as well as having transferable life having worked in a number of different educational settings and occupations all over the world
Tony told how the school is focused on equipping students with the skills to be successful in school and after school. Many of the students go on to complete their Higher School Certificate (HSC) at other local high schools, while other students choose to enrol in adult training courses and/or start their professional career by gaining employment.

From starting ET Australia as a training college, Tony believes in empowering students with a balance of freedom and responsibility.  He told us that the school is more like a contemporary workplace – everyone, teachers and students alike, are known to each other on a first name basis, students don’t wear school uniforms, there is no homework, the students are treated as young adults.  He has a strict no bullying policy enforced by Tony himself  to ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment so no student will slip through the cracks.

Terrigal Rotary in a partnership with ET has an arrangement of sponsoiring  one scholarship that in our case was awarded to a foster student due to financial hardship of foster parents, and this covers half of a student’s annual school fees. This Scholarship covers everything– textbooks, workbooks, stationery, school locker, an Apple iPad for our student, excursions, sporting fees, on-site youth support services and after school tutoring – all included.

The school has breakout areas and computer room, visual and creative arts room and a 200 seat performing arts space
