Report from last meeting from Geoff Spring

OUR CHANGEOVER DINNER
And what an occasion it was. Following magnificent President Mary and MC radiant Robyn introducing our glittering array of guests including outgoing and incoming DGs Dave and Lindsay, the extraordinary collection home grown PDGs, a candidate for induction and her family, zoomers from South Africa and friends of Rotary the meeting developed a special vibe (think the Castle) ,which was retained throughout.
All speeches including the toast to RI -thanks Jill- were short, informative and well delivered. The Mary initiated Shelter Bag Project quite properly provided the backdrop for displaying the Club’s initiative, achievement and enthusiasm .
The induction of the mighty Maggie already well know to us was performed with appropriate dignity as were the presentations to newbie dynamic Dave as Rotarian of the Year , to Robyn as Treasurer and mentor on all things financial, to Janet who has masterminded the speakers programme, and to gentle John and happy Harley as the mainstays of our successful Book Fairs.

The meeting climaxed with the induction of Mark as President who with his younger perspective and new ideas is sure to lead us into updated modes of service. Mark introduced his Board which collectively has a wealth of Rotary knowledge and experience.

Your scribe has attended many changeover dinners but for enjoyment and the vibe this one rates at the top.
