Star Awards, held the first Friday in February, is one of the great projects Midday Rotary does in conjunction with both the Morning and North Gig Harbor Rotary clubs.  Star Awards recognizes three non-Rotarians (one chosen by each club) who symbolize the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self in our community. Over the past 10 years we have honored 30 wonderful people who are making a difference in our community through their service and dedication to local charities.  Each Star Awards recipient receives a Paul Harris Fellowship and a donation is made to their chosen charity.
Julie Tappero has led our Star Awards program, and this year Julie Richards has stepped up to take over the program for Midday.  Julie T, Julie R, and Gunda Meissner led our program this week as we began the process to select our Star Awards recipient.
After watching the wonderful Star Awards video for 2019, the club gathered in small groups to nominate candidates to receive a Star Award from Midday Rotary.  Five people were nominated by the club.  There will be a short write up for the nominees that will be sent to each club member, and we will then vote on our first and second choice.  The Star Awards banquet will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020.
Great program and great job, Julie, Julie, and Gunda to get us started on recognizing our next Star Awards recipient!
