For years the Rotary Clubs of Pierce County partnered with Mary Bridge Hospital to put on the Courage Classic, a two-day bike ride through the Cascades to raise money for Child Abuse Prevention and Protection.
After a two-year hiatus, Rotary was back again as the lead Partner in putting on the Courage.  This year nearly 300 riders pedaled a total of 111 miles from Cle Elum to Leavenworth and back to raise money to help children in need.  Different Rotary clubs sponsored meals, rest stops, and refreshments all along the route.
The three Gig Harbor Rotary clubs put on the starting breakfast in Cle Elum, August 24.  Eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, bacon, sausage, juice and coffe powered over 300 riders on their way.  Past Pres Dan and his wife Lois were joined by Howard Svigals to serve breakfast at O Dark Thirty.
The third rider from the right in the picture is our Assistant District Governor, Tom Borgen, and next to him in the orange is Rotarian Don Hansen, an 87-years-young Rotarian from Tacoma 8!
