This past Tuesday we were treated to a wonderful classification talk by Jenny Wellman, one of our newer members.  As Jenny is also the Executive Director of the Gig Harbor Film Festival, she concluded her presentation with an update on the Festival.
Jenny hails from Houston Texas and the University of Texas (“Hook’em Horns!”) but has lived and traveled around the world.  She is an accountant by education and training.  Growing up her family lived in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia.  Jenny and her husband Jim moved to Gig Harbor from Columbus, Ohio.  They have two children, Peter who is a young adult, and Grace who attends Gig Harbor High.
Jenny enjoys gardening and cooking, and also volunteering.  She has served with the PTA and as a volunteer para-educator.  She has been a Girl Scout leader and volunteer at Columbus Children’s Hospital.  Her primary interests in Rotary are youth services and community service.
Jenny had her own accounting business, Right as Rain Accounting, (good name for a Western Washington company), before she became involved with the Gig Harbor Film Festival.  Her work with the Festival led to her being asked to lead it as Executive Director.
The GH Film Festival is ranked as one of the top 100 film festivals in the world. This year more than 100 filmmakers are expected for the September Event.  Jenny welcomes volunteers for the Festival - Ray Vellinga and Gunda Meissner are already signed up.  Great presentation, Jenny!
