O Canada - Past President Mark returned for a guest performance - As good as ever

Rotarian of the Month - Presented my Past President Mark to Rotarian Sam Schafhauser. Marked talked about the Object of Rotary and how Sam S particularly embraced the 2nd Object
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
Our Speakers
A cheque presentation to North Shore Rescue for $62,400 being 60% of the funds raise at this years RRFR event. President Ken, Past President Mark, and Rotarian Karen presented the cheque to Mike Danks Head of NSR. Vice President of Neptune Terminals and one of the Major Sponsors for this years RRFR was also present.
Kyp Hall President Ken's grandson whom the club sponsored ti attend RYLA Lakelse gave a an moving account of all the various activities provided at the camp and how motivating the experience was for him. He would now like to take part in RYLA South and start and Interact Club in his school
Jim Godey this years Co-Chair for Operation Red Nose on the North Shore thanked us for our club's participation last year and encouraged us all to participate again in this year event. Operation Red Nose provides a safe way for members of our community to drive to parties, at weekends, over the Christmas period and have themselves and their car driven home. This year Rotarian Len has agreed to be our Club ORN Champion.
Assistant Governor Annie Marie gave and up date on Events to put in your calendar for this Rotary Year:
- The District Governors Visit to our Club is November 23rd
- Rotary Leadership Institute dates as follows venue TBA: Level 1 September 23rd; Level 2 October 24th; Level 3 November 25th
- Charter Dinner for our Rotary District's newest Rotary Club Vancouver Mountain View October 28th details TBA
- Our District's Foundation Dinner November 18th at Floata Restaurant Vancouver
- Presidential Peace Building Conference February 9 -11 2018
- District Conference Peaceing it Together May 31st - June 3rd
- Rotary International Conference Toronto June 23-27
