Rotary Moment: Sam Chan spoke about his time in Rotary. Sam joined Rotary in 1997 and quickly realized that Rotary was what he had been seeking: not networking but a chance to Serve. Sam quickly became involved in all aspects of Rotary, from the Seniors Luncheon to Community Day Sam has always been ready and eager to lend a hand to improve the lives of others.

The Club has received the El Hogar newsletter, the school is developing an educational program for girls in Tegucigalpa Honduras. Our last International Project for the school entailed equipping a trade program with tools and equipment.

The RC Alexandria Egypt extends an invitation to participate in a fundraiser: on November 8th of this year the Club will organize a Cross-Egypt motorcycle rally, not for the faint-hearted I'm sure.

Rotarian and friend of our Club Don Evans (RC Vancouver) extends an invitation to one and all to a Rotary event at the Squamish Heritage Railway centre. Tickets are $75.00 and a tax receipt will be given.

Club member Karen Harrison presented a cheque for $20000.00 to the North Shore Rescue organization this morning. On hand to accept our donation were NS Rescue members: Tim Jones, Ron Royston and Bruce Moffat.T

The July 18th regular meeting will be a review of the Club Strategic Plan.

The Club Board of Directors will meet July 30th at Ted M.'s board room.

Club member Esther M. attended this years' RI Conference in Lisbon Portugal. Esther reports: 20000 Rotarians were in attendance from 167 countries around the world. The conference was filled with numerous sessions on various areas and opportunities for Service, attendees were urged to involve more young people in Rotary and Service and speakers included: Craig Kielburger, Jane Goodall and Celine Cousteau.

Club member Michael Upward advises that the Wheelchair Ramp project will be proceeding once a suitable location and candidate have been identified.
