The Wahroonga Rotary Club has joined -- Ku-ring-gai , St Ives and Turramurra Rotary Clubs in the management of the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic.

It is expected that the Event in 2015 will attract 2500+ riders.

Wahroonga Rotary amongst other things has responsibility to provide a range of volunteer skills and in particular Course Marshals, to service sectors of the course covering the area of Terry Hills, via Akuna Bay and on out to West Head and return.

The Course Marshal's role is crucial to both the operational staging of the event and the safety of the participants. Positioned strategically along the route, marshals direct, encourage and cheer on participants as they ride throughout the course. Marshals also advise of approaching hazards and form an important part of the communications network. Support is provided by a Sector Manager.

It is anticipated that the time each volunteer will spend at their allocated location along the route, will be approximately 2 hour shifts. Circumstances may dictate we request you attend an alternate location to that anticipated-- to meet the manpower needs of the Event-- subject to your approval.

So we welcome your registration of interest here --and following your registration you will receive a profiling questionnaire to assist us in allocating a task to you best suiting your skills.

In the weeks leading up to the event the Club will provide training and familiarization notes for all Volunteers.

We thank you for your valuable participation.

The Rides

104 km, 80 km - Competitive Cyclists: Rise to the challenge of riding from Turramurra through Hornsby, Mt Colah, beautiful Bobbin Head, Terrey Hills, see great views from West Head and return via Akuna Bay the 104km ride from Turramurra via beautiful Bobbin Head to West Head via Akuna Bay. Or do the less onerous 80 km ride which leaves out the undulating 24km West Head leg

Open to the 104 and 80km riders in 2015 will be a King, Queen and Team of the Mountain Challenge – a 4km timed uphill section from the bridge at Bobbin Head to the NPWS toll gates on Bobbin Head Road

57 km - Experienced Cyclists: for those not used to the longer distances, choose the more moderate 57 km ride taking in Bobbin Head then out to Terrey Hills and back

27 km - Social Cyclists: If you'd prefer not to tax yourself too much physically, the new 27 km ride through Bobbin Head should hit the spot

11 km - Families: This route will suit families and less experienced riders. Travel at a leisurely pace through leafy, quiet streets of Wahroonga and Turramurra before returning to the start for lunch with family and friends.,
