Karla, our exchange student, was the guest speaker and told us about her home in France. She was born in Lyon but her hometown is close to Marseille, France.
Her family home is in a rural area, Saint-Saturnin-les- Apt is closest town with a population of 2,600. A nearby village is Gordes, known as the most beautiful town in France. Specialities on the province – honey, melon, olive oil, wine, and lavender.
Karla attends a boarding high school in Avignon where she stays during the week, coming home on the weekend.  School is much harder in France than Canada.
Father is in construction, mother is accounting, and her older sister works with animals. Karla had two horses and chickens. Her horses died shortly before she came to Canada after someone broke in and left poison to kill the animals.
The thing Karla will miss most in Canada is the hot chocolate from Tim Horton’s. Her favourite food in Canada – lasagne, and fish and chips.
Karla is thinking about applying for university in Canada – maybe Montreal in the future.

Next Wednesday is committee meeting
