‘Twas four days before Christmas,
And from each of our rooms,
We gathered in our homes
For our “Holiday Zoom”!
Twenty-four Members
All happily met,
With guests, Cindy and Sharon,
We were certainly all set.
We continued today
With “Our Rotary Story”
As we gave allegiance
And praise to “Old Glory”.
Hearing fine music
Always does us some good,
As Bruce sang “Over The River
And Through The Woods”.
Sharing her faith,
Susan did employ.
“Thank you, Father God.
For Peace and Joy!”
With the plan for the program
Our day was made!
Excitement built up
For our Holiday Gift Trade!
Although it was different
From many years past,
We brought books to the children
A joy that will last!
“I’ve checked all the rules!”
Said President Matt with a grin.
‘Twas now time for the Gift Trade
To actually begin!
As each person opened
Their gift in turn,
Many reasons for gratefulness
We would each learn.
The Recipient would open,
And the Giver would say
Something he was thankful for
On this Special Day.
The Gifts were delightful,
You could be sure of that!
It was a creative way to do,
And our thanks go to Matt!
Our thanks wasn’t only
For gifts wrapped up so nice,
But our gratitude was for things
Which don’t have a price.
It’s been a challenging year,
That is for sure,
But Faith, Family, and Friends
Lend so much more…
We’re grateful to God
For maintaining our health.
For all of these treasures
We, indeed, have great wealth!
Of course, there were Happy Bills
And maybe, a few Fines,
But today, we enjoyed
Such a wonderful time!
Today’s “Rotary Moment”
Was from Frank, himself!
He had a brand-new version
Of the “Elf on the Shelf”!
More music was in store,
And it became quite distinct
That Past President Tom
Knows how to “lip-sync”!
Thanks, one and all
For a day with such fun,
And Pres. Matt ended with
“See you soon in 2021!”
Here is a brief summary of today’s Board Meeting Minutes:
The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were approved. Susan said that things are “looking good”. We must be judicious with our spending, however, so that Karen will be all set when her term as President begins.
Gary has requested to “step down” as Chair of the Trout Derby. We will be looking for someone to fill this position. Matt urged us to be thinking about someone who could fill this role.
The Vintage, Vines, and Valentines Event will not be held this year.
Mike J. has received two applications from potential Rotary members. Possibly, we can invite these two individuals to a future meeting to get acquainted.
The Rotary Youth Exchange Program will not be having students go out, nor come in because of Covid 19, and its various restrictions.
It was agreed that we will continue to have Virtual Meetings for the time being. We are going to try two Evening (Zoom) Meetings in January. Hopefully, we can rein in some of the members who work during the day.
In an attempt to keep our Membership active, we will try to contact members who have not been with us virtually, and “check” on them.
Today’s “Program” was really enjoyable! Thanks to Pres. Matt for his innovative plan to keep us connected, while still being safe and having fun! A day like today sure makes one glad to be a part of the Naples Rotary Club! Here’s wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, Healthy New Year! See you in 2021!
