The evening gathering brought Naples Rotarians to the Redwood to be greeted by Frank. Cindy is away this week, visiting Washington, DC and Virginia Beach.

We had 5 guests this evening, family and friends of Nancy Linehan, who came to support her presentation.
Jack delivered an inspirational message and led us in the pledge and song.

Everyone joined in celebrating June Birthdays and Anniversaries with Jack leading us in song.
The Rotary Member Spotlight is from Nancy Linehan:
Nancy was born in 1938 in Elmira NY. Her parents had eloped and did not tell anyone for years and then she came along. They lived with her grandmother during the Depression and moved around a lot during her childhood. At 3 years old, she contracted Scarlet Fever and learned how to entertain herself with crayons, the radio and books. None of the kids nowadays could survive!!
She found out the war was over upon arriving to school in 1945. Her dad began working at Geneva Electric and she began middle school. She was diagnosed with a skin condition which prevents her from being in the sun for any length of time. The worst class she had to participate in was swimming but she loved being involved in the school productions and programs. She also was known for her ice cream dipping skills!
She moved back to Geneva and worked for years at the Agricultural Experiment Station working with seeds. Her parents had the most gorgeous Kentucky Blue grass lawn!! Her mom was very concerned for her safety and continuously warned her about walking around town after dark alone. As any young single woman would do, she ignored her mother's warning and attracted a young man's interest. He followed her around and finally spoke to her. The young man was none other than her future husband Bob.
They married in 1959 in Geneva with 300 in attendance. He was in the Reserves the first 8 years of their marriage and stationed in various locations.
In 1959, they moved to Naples and Bob began his teaching career and she worked as a waitress. In 1961, she began her bank career at Canandaigua National. She worked hard and learned the banking industry. In 1966, she was promoted to a manager position in a new branch, making her the first female bank manager. She had many firsts in her career such as staging a bank robbery! It went flawlessly and only drew a little bit of attention from the neighbors!! She and Bob taught a "life class" at the high school - teaching everyday responsibilities of handling money, paying bills, budgets etc...
She and Bob have two children and loved watching them grow and become parents themselves.
She and Bob loved to RV and camp and travelled all over the states. They had a timeshare in Vegas. They also purchased a property in Ft. Lauderdale but Bob never got to enjoy it. He passed a few months later. She now has a beautiful cottage in Fair Haven.
She is recognized as the first woman in Rotary in our area. Over the years she has received numerous awards, titles and nominations from the community, Rotary and other organizations. She has had an amazing life!
Ace of Hearts winner is still out there with a kitty of over $500.00 4 cards remain. Today's lucky ticket was #0881. Frank drew the Jack of Diamonds.
Happy Bills were for Nancy's presentation and 1400 lbs. of food available and delivered from the Open Cupboard pop-up.
Nancy's presentation was the Rotary Moment.
We closed the meeting by joining Jack in the 4-way test. Meeting was adjourned at 7:20pm.
