Twenty-five Rotarians were greeted today by a smiling Frank. Many were wearing Sutton Spoons t-shirts in honor of our new member induction of The Sutton Co. owner, Dierdre Stevenson!

President Karen rang the bell at noon, followed by the Pledge. Jack led God Bless America, so appropriate this beautiful day! Rose offered an invocation from the Talmud: "Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it".
Our only guest today was new member-to-be, Dierdre.

Announcements: Rose will be moving to Victor soon to be near her young grandsons and families. She hopes to be with us through December, then transferring to the Victor-Farmington Rotary club. * John reminded us of World Polio Day on Thursday and Rotary One Summit in Avon on November 9th. * Cindy gave a short review of the Board Meeting today: Sadly, Laurie is  stepping down from her Club Treasurer position, she has done a great job for several years. Our current membership is 53 active and 5 honorary members. The literacy committee is going to be gifting children's books again this Christmas. Benches in memory of past Rotarians are being purchased. An Eagle Scout has built 6 benches for the pickleball courts. Check them out! *  We received a thank you card from Jess who spoke about the Uganda water project. * The calendar is updated and can be viewed at right.

We inducted Dierdre today. Her sponsor was Nancy Linehan who gave her the Rotary pin. Other participants were Karen, Rose, Jack and Cindy, all wearing Sutton Spoons shirts. Welcome to Naples Rotary, Dierdre!

John gave the Club Assembly about Club Goals, which should be reviewed often enough to keep us on track with Rotary International goals. Goals revolve around the number of members participating in service projects, social gatherings, leadership development and attendance at conferences. The club can set the numbers, some being easy to reach, others a challenge.  Other goals include use of Rotary Branding in advertising and donations to the Rotary Foundation. We also set goals for membership numbers and youth programs such as Interact, RYLA and Youth Exchange students. Finally, do we have a strategic plan and by-laws that fit our needs. We have already achieved several of the goals as we near the middle of our year. There is more we can do moving forward.

The Ace of Hearts was $50 today. Frank had the magic number but picked the Jack of Diamonds.
Our Happy Bills today went to John's program, a great weekend in our beautiful valley (great days at Artizann's), Nancy's idea to wear Sutton shirts, Sharon finding missing items, welcome to Dierdre, Betty's friend getting out, Engine 14's fundraiser for Sutton's building fund on 11/10 with a custom Cream Ale, Cindy's trip to DC with her son, and thanks to Laurie for her many years as Treasurer.
Liz's Rotary Moment was her meeting with her attorney who said he LOVED Rotary! He is not a member but has found a great gift in sharing hosting of an exchange student.  Allie is a great addition to their family of 4 boys. She loves playing sports and the Bills!

Karen concluded with the 4 Way Test and adjourned the gathering at 12:55pm. See you Thursday at Brew & Brats for World Polio Day - bring a dish to share.
