Another beautiful day in the Naples Valley as we gathered at the Redwood. Jo was our greeter for twenty-four Naples Rotarians. There were no guests.

President Carrie brought us to our feet to say the Pledge. President Judy shared an inspiration from Confucius: "It does not matter how slow you go, as long as you do not stop!" Great words for our coming year!

Announcements: A correction in our on-line calendar - Our meeting on 7/27 will start at 6pm (not 6:30) and we will hear from our exchange students returning from their time in Europe. * As announced at the District Crossover, our new Area Governor will be Patti Holdraker and will include Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Clifton Springs, Honeoye Lake, Red Jacket and Naples Clubs. Our Area meeting with District Governor Lisa Norwood will be on August 13 7pm in Bloomfield. More info to come. * Next Thursday, 7/23 is a Meet and Greet at Lynnie Lou's from 6-8 pm. Bring friends who might like to join our Rotary Club! * Blanche has moved to rehab at the Jewish Home in Rochester. * The new Naples Grape Festival t-shirts will be available at a meeting as soon as they are ready in August. You will also be able to purchase at Naples Historical Society headquarters at 22 Mill St on Thursdays from 1-3pm.

Committee spotlight: Jill presented a Membership Committee overview. Members are Cindy, Sherry, John, Jill, Carrie, Judy Miller, Kristin and Kris. New members are very welcome! Goals are to increase new members especially younger people, to share the facets of Rotary, provide training on use of ClubRunner, work to mentor and retain members. A booklet of info for new members on what we do in Naples was passed around. If you are interested in joining, please see any of the members listed above.

Chloe Shearing, who joined Rotary early this year, gave her "Getting to Know You" talk tonight. She grew up in Naples, daughter of Stacey and Jeff Shearing and granddaughter of Jo Anne and Albie. She graduated NCS in 2017 and went on to Keuka College majoring in Occupational Therapy and American Sign Language. She received her MS in 2022. She met her fiance, Jordan at Keuka. He is from Pittsburgh. They recently bought a home in Cohocton! Chloe is so happy to be near her family which also includes her sister Jordan, brother Alliet and several four-legged children!
Occupational therapy focuses on daily tasks such as food prep, bathing, walking, etc. She provides adaptive equipment, caregiver training, memory help and fall prevention techniques to help people to return to their previous activities. Her career started at Wayne Co. nursing home with stroke patients. Next she worked with children birth to 5 years with Downs, CP and autism. Recently she was at Holy Childhood, where her brother attended, working with children on life skills. She is thrilled to start as OT in Naples Elementary School this fall! Congratulations Chloe!

Carrie presented our club goals for 2026-2027. These were reviewed at the Board meeting earlier today.  We currently have 58 members including 6 honorary. We are aiming to reach 63 in the coming year. Participation in events goal is 50 people. Other goals include giving to Rotary International, social events, service projects, online presence and branding, leadership training,  bylaws, Interact and participation in RYLA, Fellowships, Action Groups, learning assemblies and the District Conference. We are well on our way to several goals already this year!

The Ace of Hearts started over today with $13. The winning ticket was #0541, held by Bo. He chose the Queen of Clubs.
Happy Bills went to Carrie and Judy's first Board meeting, Chloe's presentation, Jill's membership talk, and a great show at BVT- Frog and Toad! The dentist suggested we really do a good job using your left hand when brushing (LOL). Jill had a fun girls weekend. Albie and Jo are proud of Chloe and family. Jo Anne liked the Board meeting today. We are all thinking of Nancy and Blanche as they are healing.

Carrie showed a photo of a Rotary sign from Stargard, Poland, sent by a friend who was thinking of her. It reminded her of the one they saw on vacation in St. Martin last year.

We finished the gathering with the Four Way Test and Carrie adjourned with the bell!

Have a great week everyone!
