Frank's smiling face greeted us on yet another steamy summer day! Twenty Rotarians gathered with one guest, Jan, to welcome our former Naples Rotary President Bruce Wayne McLellan, who gave our program today.
Karen brought the meeting to order at noon followed by the Pledge. Jack chose God Bless America. Patrice shared some thoughts about planting a garden for the invocation. She suggested we plant Squash (gossip, criticism, indifference), Peas (perseverance, politeness, preparation, purity, patience), Lettuce (be unselfish, loyal, charitable, truthful, love one another). Also Turnip (determination, smiles) and Thyme (for fun and rest). Water with patience and cultivate with love to reap what we sow!

Bruce began his presentation with an original song, "Hero", which encouraged us to "be the best of yourself". He has been singing for 55 years and has recently been very busy performing all over our area. He spoke to plans that don't always come to fruition. In younger years he aspired to be an astronaut (too tall) or live an adventurous life (which he did for a time). His Airstream Dream to travel cross country was in the plans when Covid happened. A change of direction led him to creating podcasts, including "One Kind Moment" which has been translated into 5 languages with over 100 thousand downloads. It is the basis of his book, recently released, "Kindness Daily Reader". He just ordered another printing! In addition to music, Bruce is a leadership coach focusing on what brings people happiness. It's not wealth or fame but well being and good relationships. "Our connections are a precious commodity!" Live Life with Compassion and Kindness!
Bruce finished his presentation with a wonderful James Taylor song - "The Secret of Life".
Bruce was our Rotary Moment today!
The Ace of Hearts is at $57. Skip's number was picked, he pulled the Ace of Diamonds!
Many Happy Bills went to Bruce for his presentation and his friendship and wise counsel to several Rotarians. Jack and Sharon celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary a week early with family and friends. Jack shared a story of adventure in their backyard (and those of his neighbors!)
President Karen led us in the Four Way Test and rang the bell to send us on our way at 12:50 pm. Have a great week and stay cool!
