Tonight was our annual Steak Dinner! We gathered at the VFW, hosted by Rotarian Brittany Tierson. Twenty- six Naples Rotarians and 5 guests enjoyed the shared dishes and delicious steak, cooked by Bill Grove.
President Carrie led the Pledge and asked for introductions of our guests. Joining us were Chip and Stuart Weismiller, Carmen Stopka, Alan's friend Anita and John Manser.
Carrie gave a report from the Board Meeting today:
* We will do a Zoom for next Monday's noon meeting. Judy will be presiding.
* We will inquire about fixing the fence between the Post Office and Memorial Town Hall before the Grape Festival in 12 days.
* Leslie is coordinating a new fundraiser - providing a US flag service in Naples area next summer. We would likely place flags at homes before Memorial Day through July 4th, then again for Labor Day to Veterans Day. Bloomfield and Canandaigua provide this service and are successful in raising funds for community projects. Much more info to come.
* We will be looking into creating a companion Rotary Club that could focus on younger busy people who might meet less frequently and participate in projects.
* The first Peace Pole is complete at the Old Town Square, between Old School Cafe and Plenty the Diner. The second one will be placed at the Naples Youth Corp space on Academy St. soon. Each has wishes for peace in four languages. We hope to have a dedication ceremony when they are finished.
* We hosted the District Golf Tournament last Friday at Reservoir Creek. Fifty-two golfers raised $3300 for District Governor Lisa Norwood's projects.
* The Alzheimer Association Walk that we heard about in early August is happening in Canandaigua on September 26th. We will be more than busy then with the Naples Grape Festival! For the next two Mondays, we will have a QR code available for making donations from our Club. Cash is welcome as well.
Have a great week everyone and hope for wonderful weather on September 26th and 27th!
