A Community Service Event
 
Come join us for a morning in the Wailoa Ethnobotanical garden! Wednesday morning we will be planting ferns and ti, moving rocks and flattening mounds.
Volunteers must wear a mask, gloves, close-toed shoes and protective clothing. This is to limit our exposure to heavy metals in the soil and as a Covid precautionary. Mahalo!

Time: 8-10am
Location: Wailoa Cultural Center in Hilo
 
Tasks for Wednesday morning :
-Pull out the ‘Uala in the pyramid planters 
-Move rocks into the planters & plant Laua’e and kupukupu ferns
-Flatten the mounds in the 1st & 2nd sections 
-Lay weed mat over the mounds and ditches, carry rocks into the ditches to allow for water drainage
-Plant ti stalks along lava rock wall in 1st & 2nd section
