The Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley is participating in World Polio Day by partnering with the Nashoba Regional School District to help eradicate polio. The schools in the district's three towns will collect donations from students in exchange for having their pinky fingers painted purple. Purple Pinkie Day gets its name from the practice of temporarily marking a child’s little finger with purple dye when vaccinated.Through Rotary, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation adds $2 for every dollar donated.

To go with Purple Pinkie Day, the club is distributing dictionaries to the third graders in Lancaster's Mary Rowlandson School. The students will use their personalized dictionaries to look up words lke eradication and sustainability.
