World Polio Day is October 24, and during that entire week, teachers, students, and school health staff in Bolton, Lancaster, and Stow, MA are teaming up with the Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley to stop polio. On Purple Pinkie Days, students can contribute a dollar which is enough to vaccinate several children. In return, they can get their pinkies painted purple, just like the kids who are immunized around the world.

Polio has been eliminated in all but three countries, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan. Rotary International has partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Health Organization to immunize children worldwide.
