During the months of July and August our Club has been very busy.

July 20th

Six members, Doug Nauer, John Kristof, Chip and Susan Paquette , Harley and Helen deBruyckere travelled up to the Junior Forest Warden’s Camp and helped with some staining, siding and building bunks at their Camp.

 August 26th, 27th and 28th

Members of Sunrise helped to raise over $3000 at the 50th Anniversary of SeaFair bingo tent. Kim Miller was the lead Rotarian on this event and did a fabulous job!!

August 31st

Rotary Clubs of Powell River hosted the Community Reception for the RCMP Musical Ride at Willingdon Beach. Over 600 people received burgers, hot dogs, watermelon, water and cake all provided by Dominion Lending , Priority Heating, Canada Safeway, Quality Foods and Save-on-Foods. $1048.00 was donated by members of the public and donated to the Bruce Denniston Bone Marrow Society. A huge thank you to all the Musical Groups who made the evening one to remember and to all Rotarians who helped to make this a great welcome for the RCMP Ride members.

August 1st

RCMP Musical Ride performed in Powell River. But not before 2 Members and their horses made a visit to the Evergreen Extended Care Facility. A day many of our Senior’s will not forget. Thank you to Rotarian Len Wegner, Manager at Evergreen for helping to make this happen. It was a great experience to see the smiles on the faces of so many appreciative folks who are unable to enjoy many things in life.

At the Ride in the Evening, many Sunrise members assisted with ticket taking and security. Many thanks to all Members who gave of their time and energy to make this a great week of Rotary in our Community.
