President John Ferguson called the meeting to order at 12.30 pm and called on Jeremy Reithmuller to lead us in Rotary Grace. This was followed by the usual toast to The Queen and People of Australia.
President John then welcomed our visitors: George Weston from Leeton Rotary Club, Philip and Deidre Tome from Kooringal and Sunrise respectively, Trevor Urquhart from SVDP, Jackie Stumpel, (Franzi's Counsellor), Sandra Legge, Margaret Priest and our Exchange Student Franzi.
President John reminded members that next week's meeting is a vocational visit toTAFE. There will be no meeting at the Commercial Club next week.
There will be a combined Board Meeting next Monday at the Commercial Club at 5.15 p.m.
We all knew the smiling new manager at Proway - but most were suprised to see Paul in this corporate outfit. Things fell into place even more when we were told that the Chairman of the Board, and a significant investor was one of our club members, the incoming President, no less!!
The Rotarians in attendance were split into two groups, and headed off to see the operations around one big yard and two enormous sheds. Proway manufacture livestock handling equipment, and operate at the high quality, custom designed and innovative sector within the market.
The company employs around eighty people, with fifty based in Wagga Wagga, designing and fabricating the company's range of products, with the balance of the staff involved with installation all around the country.
The "Guru" of stock handling systems and animal psychology, particularly cattle, is an American woman called Mary Temple Grandin, worth searching for on Google. Proways equipment catalogue shows a photo of Temple Grandin at a Proway field Day in Queensland. The Bulletin Editor was impressed! The same catalogue reinforces the message from Paul.
When designing livestock facilities, our priorities are:
Jan Roberts, from Wagga Women's Health Centre accepts a cheque from President John. This represents the major beneficary's share of the proceeds from this years Food and Wine Festival, held in March. Stephen Hodgson, one of the principals of Riverina BMW, who sponsor our event was on hand to support John in recognising the outstanding work of the Wagga Women's Health Centre, and the success of the festival.
A group of Wollundry Rotarians were on hand to witness the presentation - all in White shirts. At the conclusion of the ceremony, there was no mass exodus - just a gentle stroll around the showroom, taking in the specifications of the merchandise, the fuel consumption, the horsepower, the Nm of torque, valves per cylinder and technical terms we knew even less about.
Paul Milde, in his role as Secretary, announced member commitments and Rosters.

Here's a quandary - James and Gina voluntarily spent a day researching Ciderfest at Batlow last weekend.
Could James have claimed a make up?
Food and Wine festival, or Cider and Cycle festival are projects of Wollundry Rotary, and could benefit enormously from a better understanding of successful community events. Perhaps James could mount a test case, and report back on the outcome.
