Nine intrepid explorers took the number 96 tram to Ackland St on a cloudy day perfect for walking! First stop the St Kilda Botanical gardens to admire the roses and "triffids", thence to the beach and the heart of the solar system! We inspected our Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars on a scale model of the solar system stretching from Elwood to Port Melbourne. Walking further towards the St Kilda Pier we succumbed to temptation at the Beachcomber Seaside Cafe, Cappuccinos all round! We ambled back along Jacka Boulevard passing Luna Park and the Palais Theatre back to Ackland St and the ever reliable 96 tram back to the city
