Every year, the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast and the Rotary Club of Sechelt awards four $1,000 school district bursaries to deserving Grade 12 students in the community who are going on to attend university. Here are some thank you letters we received from this year’s recipients.

Dear Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast and the Sechelt Rotary Club,

I cannot thank you enough for selecting me to be the recipient of one of your bursaries.

I am attending Trinity Western University in the fall as a political science major with a minor in human services. After I graduate, I plan on attending law school and becoming a humanitarian lawyer.

Thanks to you I am one step closer towards my goal. By awarding me the bursary you have lessened my financial burden.

Your generosity is inspiring and I one day hope to be able to help others as you have helped me.

Kind regards
Ameila Thorpe

Dear Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast and Margaret Green of the Rotary Club of Sechelt

I am writing to thank you for choosing me as a recipient of the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast Bursary. I was very grateful and very happy to hear I was selected for this opportunity.

Come September, I will be starting my Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. I am planning to major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology that will lead to a career as an Ecologist. Along the way as well I will be continuing being involved with Girl Guides and community service. Thanks to your organization, I am one step closer to reaching that goal.

By awarding me the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast-Sechelt Bursary, you have greatly lightened the financial burden, allowing me to focus more on schoolwork. My pursuits of the future would not be possible without bursaries like this.
Again, thank you for this opportunity.

Sincerely,
Emma McLean

I am honoured to have been selected as one of the recipients of the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast- Sechelt 2020 Bursary.

Thanks to your scholarship, I will be attending Capilano University’s 3D Animation for Film and Game Diploma program in the fall. I also plan to join the Campus Rotaract Club when I am able to and continue my journey with Rotary

In the future, I hope that I will be able to pay back your generosity in some way.

Sincerely grateful,

Dear Rotary Members

Thank you so much for selecting me for the $1,000 Rotary Club bursary. I really appreciate your support and generosity.

The funds will help a lot as I start my post-secondary program at Capilano University in the Fall.

As part of my Social Work degree, I am looking forward to also doing 100 hours of volunteer work with youth, so I am grateful for the service experience I have already obtained through Rotary in the past.

After my first 2 years, I hope to attend UVIC directly or online, before returning to the Sunshine Coast, where I can continue to support youth in our community.

Thank you again for your generous support.
