Meet our New District Governor, Marta Knight

Marta Knight, District Governor
 
Marta has been a member of Chula Vista Sunrise Rotary for 15 years. She held many offices including Club President. She chaired Membership, International Service and Peace Committees. She has assisted and participated in Club Fundraisers and work projects. 
She has served District 5340 in many roles. She was GSE Team Leader to Ecuador, RYLA facilitator, District International Service Chair, District Strategic Planning Team, Thousand Smiles volunteer, Mobilizing Rotary for Micro Credit Committee, Friends of Ecuador Committee, Pathway to Peace Committee and Zone Institute Foundation and Emerging Leader training. She is currently serving as Assistant Governor and District Grants Sub-Committee Chair. 
Marta was born and raised in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. She is a 3rd generation Rotarian with her Grandfather being a founding member of the Rotary Club of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Her Father was a member of the Tijuana Rotary for 47 years. Marta is proud to follow in his footsteps as he was District Governor twice. 
Marta retired from her 30 year career as a Mortgage Loan Officer. She helped many families achieve the Dream of Homeownership. This included non-English speaking families as she is Bilingual, Biliterate and Bicultural in Spanish. She served as President of the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. 
Marta is married to Bill Knight. They have 4 children and 2 grandchildren.

Steven Weitzen, District Governor Elect

Steven Weitzen will serve as District Governor during the Rotary year 2020-21.
 
A resident of La Jolla with his wife, Ava, Steven is a native San Diegan. He has been a licensed attorney since 1987 and opened his law practice in 1990. Today, he is a solo practitioner in the area of civil litigation.
 
Steven has been a member of the Del Mar-Solana Beach Rotary Club since 2006 and served as President in 2013-14. He has been to El Salvador twice with the club to work on international projects in this poorest of Central American countries. He also has served at Stand Down as a counselor of homeless military veterans.
 
He was an Assistant Governor from 2015-18. Currently, Steven serves as Chief Assistant Governor for Rotary District 5340. He is a Paul Harris Society member and has been a speaker at PETS, District Training, and District Conference.
