I am sure that all of you enjoyed Tom Glenn’s presentation this past Wednesday. Hearing about the founding of the company, how they became Elder’s Ace Hardware, their growth and progress and then most importantly their vision.

It was refreshing to hear how much emphasis they place on a culture of service. Too many companies focus is only on the short-term bottom line not on the lifetime value of a good customer. Nice to know that we have a local company who is promoting individual employee responsibility for creating a welcoming place to ask for and actually receive help. Too often I have had to search for someone to ask a question in some other nameless places. Personally, I would rather pay a little more and have someone to ask for advice or assistance!

A huge thank you to all that participated in working at Chattanooga Rescue Mission on this past Saturday. We had a nice turn out and with many hands the work went quickly. A special shout out to Matt Nuar for bringing two future Rotarians (his boys) to help out. Dennis Negron coordinated with Jaylin Jordan and brought him to help out also. Jaylin is one of our scholarship recipients from Chattanooga State.

A reminder, Mike Foos shared with our club about district wide opportunity to help with Soles4Soles. In case you missed last week it is asking our members to bring gently used shoes that will be donated to give footwear to those who need. Any type of shoes are welcomed. Mike will have boxes for us to drop them in from 2/11 – 3/11.
