Dear Rotarians,

Last Wednesday we heard from Sean McDaniel the President and General Manager of the new Chattanooga Red Wolves pro soccer team. They will begin their inaugural season in the spring of 2019 in the United Soccer League Division III. It is very exciting to have a new professional sporting team that calls Chattanooga home! It should be fun to watch and will definitely have a large impact on our local economy.

Tomorrow we will here from Lakweshia Ewing, the VP of Community Impact for the United Way of Greater Chattanooga. The United Way believes that when children succeed in school and life, so does our community. In addition, they believe that building strong, stable families helps to build a stronger community as well.

Finally, I wanted to make you aware of a few announcements:

Rotarian Earl Story will have someone here from Lifetouch to take pictures tomorrow, October 24th and Wednesday, December 5^th. If you have not had a photo taken or want to update your photo in Club Runner, then make sure to take care of that on one of these 2 dates.
Next Wednesday, October 31^st, we will have a Halloween theme at our Rotary meeting. So wear a mask, special hat, or come in full costume! Whatever you prefer!
Also, next Wednesday, October 31^st, the emphasis will be the Pillars of Peace Conference in 2019 in Mexico, and our club is the U.S. sponsor of that project. We are partnering with a club in Mexico. Our speaker will be Summer Lewis who is a graduate of our Rotary Peace Fellowship program (a Master's degree program). She is the Founder of True Roots Consulting which focuses on social issues, especially in Mexico.
November 7^th is our Veterans Day Program, and we are taking reservations for the number of guests planned for the Veteran's Day celebration. Please contact Roseanne Apyan at tntlde@sbcglobal.net with your number of guests so we can plan accordingly. The cut off date is November 2^nd.

Thank you all for being such a great club! I appreciate you all. Tomorrow, Ed Lawrence will be running our meeting as I will be in Montgomery, AL.

Have a good evening!

President Chris

Just to let you know...

Frank Gibson has resigned from our club. He is retired now and will be spending more time caring for his wife.
