Ralph Perrey is the Executive Director of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. He assumed his position in November 2012 following nine years’ service on THDA’s Board of Directors. His tenure as THDA’s Executive Director has seen the agency revamp its mortgage products and down payment assistance program; significantly increase loan production through marketing, outreach and lender engagement; establish regional representatives to better interact with partners across the state; undertake initiatives to combat blight in urban neighborhoods and support housing rehabilitation in distressed Appalachian communities; and launch the Rebuild & Recover program to help small communities hit by natural disasters.

Perrey serves as Vice President of the National Council of State Housing Agencies, the first Tennessean to serve as an NCSHA Officer. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the National Housing Conference, the nation’s oldest affordable housing organization, founded in 1931. Before joining THDA Perrey worked at Fannie Mae for 13 years. Prior to that, he served on the senior staff of Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist, handling a variety of policy and communication roles. He has also served as a Congressional staffer in Washington DC, and as a broadcast journalist.

Perrey is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Frostburg State University in Maryland, where he captained the cross country team and won the college’s John Allison Outstanding Senior Award. He and his wife, Julie, have been married for over 30 years and are the parents of daughters Kathryn and Kirsten
