Hindsight
It looks like UTC has performed another slam dunk by hiring Matt McCall as their new head coach for the men’s basketball team.
Matt embodies many of the same positive traits former coach Will Wade brought to the program and perhaps a few more. With most of last year’s players returning as juniors and seniors, the Mocs are poised for success.
As a season ticket holder, I can’t wait.
Go Mocs!
Looking Ahead
Nationally syndicated Times Free Press Editorial Cartoonist, Clay Bennett, will be our featured speaker on the 16th. Clay is the winner of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning and many, many more prestigious awards. His cartoons typically present liberal viewpoints often resulting in an outpouring of diverse public commentary. However, you don’t have to agree with someone’s viewpoint to appreciate his or her artistic talent and quick wit.
I’ve asked Clay to present a PowerPoint presentation of his Pulitzer Prize nominated cartoon(s); other cartoons he’s won prizes for; his favorite cartoons; controversial cartoons he’s caught the most flack about; cartoons he was the most surprised by people’s reactions; and cartoon(s) that people ask about most often.
In Rotary, we need to be apolitical and avoid a partisan debate. I have no doubt there will be lively discussions but let’s remember to be respectful of opinions that may differ from our own. Let’s give Clay a warm, Hamilton Place welcome.
