I want to remind our members and announce to our visitors and friends that our Wednesday 12:00 weekly club meetings have been moved to Grace Works Church, Address: 6445 Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37421. We are very excited about our new home and very appreciative of Pastor Bill Owens and staff for accommodating us! If you aren't familiar with the church building it is the site of the "big white cross" on the hill close to highway 153. As a PSA watch your speed driving to the meeting (40 mph and cameras I believe)-the kids in our community and around the world need our $ more than the city!
Our speaker this Wednesday is congressman Chuck Fleischmann and next week April 8 will be Joe Wiegand whose biography is below. Hope to see everyone this week!
Joe Wiegand is regarded as the nation’s premiere reprisor of Theodore Roosevelt. Prior to becoming Teddy Roosevelt, Joe had a twenty-five year career in politics and public policy in his native Illinois. In 2008, after serving as campaign manager for gubernatorial and presidential campaigns in the Land of Lincoln, Joe set out with his wife, Jenny, daughter, Sam, and golden retriever, Faith, on a fifty state tour celebrating TR’s sesquicentennial birthday and the centennial of TR’s final year in office. The adventure was highlighted by a performance at the White House for President and Mrs. George W. Bush on TR’s 150th birthday.
Joe is a political science graduate of Sewanee, the University of the South, in Sewanee, Tennessee, and a former graduate assistant at the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb, Illinois. Joe is a Harry S Truman Scholar and a Thomas J. Watson Fellow. Joe is a member of Rotary International and a member of the National Association for Interpretation. A former county commissioner in DeKalb County, Illinois, Joe and his family now reside nearby San Diego.
Today, Joe performs in all fifty states and internationally. He has been featured in film and television, most recently in “The Men Who Built America” on the History Channel and in “The Forward Pass: A Football Life” by NFL Films. Joe’s TR Tour is sponsored, in part, by the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation of Medora, North Dakota. More information is available at www.teddyrooseveltshow.com
I am very excited to tell you that Carrabba's Italian Grill has agreed to be the 19th Hole Sponsor for our golf tournament! This means that they will come onsite and provide a delicious buffet-style dinner for our golfers and volunteers immediately following the tournament.
The managing partner, Lana Pittman, told Robyn and me the menu will most likely consist of salad, Marsala chicken and a starch/veggie. This will be a nice complement to Texas Roadhouse's delicious burgers at lunch.
This is a incredible new partnership for our club so please be sure to mention it as you sell your golf teams and sponsorships -- actually, mention all our generous major sponsors if you can!
The best way to thank our sponsors is to patronize their businesses and thank them in person on behalf of Rotary.
Thank YOU for all you are doing to make this year's golf tournament the best, yet!
