Dear Rotarian,

Last week we learned from Steven Thomas with the Metal of Honor Museum that Chattanooga is the most Patriotic City in the nation and why, as we learned about our local landscape and how that connects us to our past.  This week we will hear from one of our past District Governors, Jim Roxlo, on a fascinating international project on Artificial Hands. It's a project in Haiti and Dominican Republic.

Your board met last week and I wanted to share a few items with you.  Regarding the mask mandate which is being lifted in Hamilton County on 4/28, the board has decided that for our meetings and events, masks are recommended based on your comfort level, but not required.  We closed out our Year 3 Bess T. Shepherd grant by submitting a final report which was approved so we will soon receive our matching district funds.  About half of you responded to the survey that was sent to club members about whether you would be interested in an online dues payment option so we wanted to provide an update.  The board thoroughly reviewed and after thoughtful consideration, decided not to move forward with this option due to increased fees that both our club and individual members would recognize, and the additional tasks placed on our administration team.  Direct Deposit is available and please see Gale if you would like to consider DD as an option for dues payment.  Your board works hard for you and you are welcome to attend our meetings as it is a great way to learn more about our club!  Our board meeting minutes are placed on ClubRunner for your review.

April 24-30 is World Immunization Week so you will likely see several communications regarding this topic.  Please remember your golf sponsorships which enables us to continue our student scholarships, coats, library books and our local and international projects.  Please note your prayer, pledge and greeter assignments, and it is always such a pleasure to see everyone and look forward to seeing more of our Rotarians returning to our in-person meetings.   Zoom continues to be offered for those unable to join in person.  Consider inviting a guest as more people are comfortable getting out, they may be open to exploring Rotary and serving our community with us.  Remember what John Germ said - ASK-ASK-ASK!

During our third quarter, Kevin and Roseanne notified us that they found the 'Clue' in our bulletin so as in the past, when we only have 2, we will offer a small gift to both which we will recognize at this week's meeting.  Thank you Chris for continuing to strategically place the 'Clue' in our bulletin.

The following is the Zoom meeting link.  If you have difficulties in accessing the online meeting, please contact Dale Rardin at 423-605-6790 (cell) and he will assist you.  Please note that a passcode is now required to access the zoom meeting for security purposes.

Volunteering to be part of our weekly rotation of being a Greeter or leading our club in Prayer and Pledge is a privilege and a responsibility.  If you have a Greeter or Prayer & Pledge assignment and are unable to serve, you are responsible for finding your replacement and notifying Chris Neighbors or President Beverlee Bartley of the change.  Thank you for your club service.
