Dear Rotarians,

Last week we had District Governor Debbie Alexander-Davis spend time with the board and presented our program for our club meeting. I have really enjoyed meeting and getting to know DG Debbie and I hope you were able to see why as she shared with us last week. Our board met with Debbie before our club meeting and I've got to tell you, I was incredibly proud of this group of folks. They take their responsibilities very seriously and have some really good ideas and plans for this year. If you signed up to be on a committee (or if you haven't yet and will) I hope you plan to jump in and help your chairs make some great things happen!
 
This past Saturday, six of us made our way to Cleveland State for the District Foundation, Youth Services and Membership Seminar. Kevin Beirne, Tyler Spry, Alan Johnston, Stan Russell, Chris Neighbors and myself learned a lot about these different areas of Rotary and we look forward to taking what we learned and apply it to the life of our club.
 
Our program Wednesday will be from a friend of our club and downtown Rotarian Dr Glenn Draper. Our program will be an interview format by former local radio personality, Tom Hammett, from WDYN.  Tom will ask Glenn about his distinguished career as choral director and his various opportunities to be an ambassador for Keesler Air Force Base, Miami and Chattanooga. With multiple performances on the Ed Sullivan Show, at the White House and several continents, Glenn's stories will be entertaining and enlightening. In addition to his vast music career, he also has worked hard to keep his perfect attendance in Rotary for over 55 years! I hope you plan on joining us Wednesday!
 
Announcements:
  • Golf Committee - There will be a golf committee meeting this Wednesday(Aug 23rd) following the regular Rotary meeting.  This meeting is open to anyone who would like to help with the 2018 Rotary Golf Tournament. (You will also receive credit for  a make up.)
  • Membership Month contest - Don't forget to invite you guests for our August contest to see what Rotarian can introduce the most guests to our club. Two weeks remain!
