Hindsight
Did you know that Erlanger Children’s Hospital treated 41,000+ children in the emergency room and 55,000+ children for in and outpatient treatments in 2014, alone? That’s an average of 112 emergency visits per day and 151 per day for other medical services—just for children.
Did you know 95% of the children diagnosed with cancer in our area receive their treatment protocol at Erlanger Chil-dren’s Hospital and not at St. Jude Hospital?
Don Mueller, CEO and Bruce Komiske, VP Project Executive explained the urgent need for a new children’s hospital and shared their vision for what it will look like.
“Believe” is the $23.5MM campaign to build the Children’s Hospital Outpatient Center, Phase I of an all-new chil-dren’s hospital. With an estimated cost of $35MM, Erlanger has already committed $11.5MM to the project.
This building will be the most significant and transformative structure in Chattanooga since the Tennessee Aquarium and will attract the highest caliber of medical personnel from across the country.
Looking Ahead
The always lively and entertaining District Governor Beth Stubbs will be our featured speaker at this week’s meeting. Her theme is:
“Rally Around Rotary”
There are many good things going on in our Rotarian world. Some may surprise you and some may amaze you. As part of an intricate Rotary Connection, we each play a part and each of us has a role. Beth will enlighten us with current and future glimpses of that connection.
To further her knowledge of Rotary International, Beth has attended 14 international conventions, traveled to New York City for UN Day for Rotary, served in a National Immunization Day in India, and attended various Zone meetings around the country.
Personally, Beth is an experienced and proven CPA, and has been Chief Financial Officer at Trinity Benefit Advisors, Inc., in Knoxville, Tennessee, since its inception in 2006. Beth also has a private practice with specialized consulting services to small business owners for managing accounting and financing matters as well as developing exit strategies.

Do you know what “Rotary Fellowships” are?
They simply are groups of fellow Rotarians from around the world who share common interests. Do you like to ride motorcycles? There’s a group for you! Do you like to fly airplanes? There’s a group for you! Do you like beer, bowling, or bird watching? What about chess, cooking, or cruising? Whatever your passion or hobby, with 64 different categories currently, there very likely is a group of Rotarians across the globe who want to share it with you. If you’ve always dreamed of walking the Great Wall of China imagine meeting up with a group of Chinese Rotarians to make your adventure even more memorable and fun. 太有趣了! What about taking a cooking class in Italy? Mangia! Biking across Vietnam? đạp xe khó khăn! Drinking beer in Germany? Austrinken!
