Rotary Hamilton Place Bulletin (May 20, 2015)

Dear fellow HP Rotarians,
You asked for a speaker to talk about the history of our area – voila! Our meeting on Wednesday, July 22nd will feature Brad Bennett, Director of the Chickamauga National Park Service. Learn more at http://www.nationalparks.org/explore-parks/chickamauga-chattanooga-national-military-park . I look forward to seeing you there!

At our Club Assembly on July 22, I announced Rotary International President Ravi Ravindran’s theme for 2015-16:

“Be a gift to the world!”

“Each of us is born with unique gifts…and we all have a choice whether to keep our gifts to ourselves or to share them with the world. Will we come to the end of our lives and realize that we have wasted our gifts, achieving nothing that will outlive us? Or will we look back and know that when we pass from this world, the good that we have done will remain? What will it take for us to see every hour, every day, every year that we have been given, as a gift – one that is precious, fleeting, and irreplaceable?”

These words are especially profound in light of the tragic events over the past week in our community. We, as Americans, are blessed to have been given the gift of freedom to choose to participate in the gift that is Rotary. Let’s honor our fallen servicemen by not wasting these or our personal gifts they fought to protect by re-energizing our action in “service above self.” Be a gift to the world.

Upcoming Speakers
Senator Bob Corker is on “stand-by” & plans to come! He will give us a 4-6 week notice when he is available.

I encourage you to share this list of speakers with your friends, peers, colleagues, and other professionals you think might be interested in learning more about HP Rotary.

Be sure to RSVP your # of guests with Vicki Anderson at vanderson@epbfi.com so that our caterer knows to prepare enough food. Note: make sure your email/Outlook “pre-fill feature” uses this address for Vicki and not a different email address. Vicki says, “Thanks!”

Have a great week and I’ll see you on Wednesday, July 29th!
