It was a treat having Brad Bennett, Director of the Chickamauga National Park Service, come speak to our club last week. What a fascinating and diverse career he’s had -- from the volcanoes of Hawaii to the Alaskan tundra and now, to the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Did you know our very own military park was established in 1890 and was the first of its kind in our nation?! Gettysburg wasn’t designated as a National Military Park until 1895. The NPS has so much to offer the community – right in our own back yard. Check it out at: http://www.nationalparks.org/explore-parks/chickamauga-chattanooga-national-military-park
REMINDER: The “Widow’s Harvest” community project will be held Saturday, September 12th. It’s a great event to help someone in need, bond with your fellow club members AND it will count as a make-up. Contact Rem Cooper rrcooper@askifg.com or 423-605-7694 for more info or to sign up as a volunteer.
Be sure to pick up your new 2015-16 “Be a Gift to the World” Rotary Pins
at the Registration Desk (available in magnetic and traditional lapel pin styles)
Upcoming Speakers
Senator Bob Corker is on “stand-by” & plans to come! He will give us a 4-6 week notice when he is available.
I encourage you to share this list of speakers with your friends, peers, colleagues, and other professionals you think might be interested in learning more about HP Rotary.
Be sure to RSVP your # of guests with Vicki Anderson at vanderson@epbfi.com so that our caterer knows to prepare enough food. Note: make sure your email/Outlook “pre-fill feature” uses this address for Vicki and not a different email address. Vicki says, “Thanks!”
Have a great week and I’ll see you on Wednesday, August 5th!
