We had quite a week with a visit from Tom Kale, District Chair for Disaster Relief, Fellowship and Hospitality and learned about what we should do as a Club in our community if something bad were to happen. We also learned about how many Fellowship Clubs there are within our District. There are a lot and it's a fun way to build relationships with other members from other Clubs!
RYLA was this past Saturday and Jim Glass and myself spent the day at Camp Nakanawa in Crossville helping over 100 young high school students develop their leadership skills and do many team building exercises. It was a lot of fun and very fulfilling to see the leaders of our future grow and learn!
This week we will be visited by Cyndi Leach, who is not only a Polio survivor but also a Board Member of SPARC, which some of us volunteered at on August 1st at their Watersports Day. Cyndi is going to share with us her story and the involvement she has given to our community.
Please remember that our food drive for Chattanooga Food Bank ends this Wednesday the 30th, you can bring your box and food to our meeting or take it to the Chattanooga Food Bank (go to the back of their building at
2009 Curtain Pole Rd. at their loading dock, ring the bell, and have them weigh the food, making sure that they use our QR code on the box). You can also use the QR code on the boxes to make a financial donation which actually goes farther! $2 equals 5 meals!
Also, we will be having a service event this Saturday at Welcome Home Chattanooga (
3131 Quiet Creek Trail, 37406) for 9am to 12pm. We are adding lights to the chapel we helped pay for as well as some gardening so please bring tools, and gardening supplies and if you have a ladder, that would help too! Sign up sheets will be on the table at this week's meeting.
