Dear Rotarian,

Last week Brigette Thurman and Stephen Pike put together a fantastic program as we recognized several outstanding teachers from area schools.  It was very impressive to hear not only from the teachers, but to listen to the students who introduced the various teachers.  The future is bright!

Tomorrow, our speaker is Mr. Matthew Richardson.  He was appointed Brigham Young University’s advancement vice president in May 2014, having previously served as a professor of Church History and Doctrine at BYU.  Richardson completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at BYU and joined the Religious Education faculty at BYU in 1996. He served as associate dean of Religious Education, received Brigham Young University’s Circle of Honor award, the Robert J. Matthews Excellence in Teaching award and served as the Religious Education Fellow for Scholarship in Learning and Teaching. He has written books and articles on education (pedagogy), LDS Church government, Church history and doctrinal topics, and LDS marriage and family relations.
