I hope you are all doing well and staying cool as we get through this heat! What an amazing offsite meeting we had this past Wednesday at the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center! I want to say a huge thank you to our Vice President Hank Powell for helping to put this together, being our guide and sharing an abundance of history with us. Hank and the staff there truly took care of us and I'm proud we had so many members join in honoring the Medal of Honor recipients especially two days before 9/11. I truly hope we can do this again in the future!
This week we will hear from Emerie Shontz, President of Chattanooga Roteract Clubs and District Chair for Roteract, who will be joined by her Vice President Lane Gutridge to share their experience with creating a strong Roteract impact in our community. Hopefully, we can all learn from them and help rebuild former Roteract Clubs or create new ones!
Next week we will hear from Tom Kale, our District Chair for Disaster Relief, who will be speaking about a wide range of things within Disaster Relief and the efforts put forth on our District level. Tom is a past President of the Chattanooga Breakfast Club and is an all around great guy, this should be a very informative meeting!
Please remember that this Wednesday the 16th is the last chance to bring plastic grocery bags, which I will collect. The following day 9/17/26 we will meet at Abba's House Church (5208 Hixson Pike, Hixson 37343) from 10am to 12pm to help make mats for the homeless. Please join us!
There is a slight change to our Chattanooga Food Bank food drive: the collection will be from September 16th to the 30th. If you have a place in mind to put a donation box, please see Warren Graber or Barry Jeffrey ASAP! Warren will give us an update and more details on Wednesday.
A couple charity events to consider: Plate It Forward on September 24th benefiting the JA Henry YMCA who provide over 400,000 meals for children in our community every year, see Warren Graber if you are interested. And Patriots Ball for the Medal of Honor Heritage Center on October 6th at Erlanger Park, see me for an invitation.
I hope you all have a wonderful week and thank you for putting Service Above Self! If you can't join us in person, please join us by Zoom at the link below:
