Yesterday we stopped to remember and memorialize those who have given their all for our country. It is a reflective and somewhat somber day as we realize that what we have and enjoy in this country is borne on the backs of men and women who have gone on before us and given the ultimate in sacrifice. Often time not for what they would benefit, but what their children, or grandchildren would benefit. We are indebted to these who have given their lives for that of our country and the freedoms we hold so dearly. Thank you to all who have served and who have given their lives so that my life, and the lives of my children and future grandchildren can be lived to its fullest without fear.

Last week we had John Farrimond with AMPUP Nonprofit Consulting as our featured speaker. It was interesting to hear him speak of the challenges that face non-profits today. Some of the topics he touched on were how the board interacts and gives direction to the organization making sure that all efforts are aligned with the mission as well as how tax strategies will impact fund raising going forward.

Tomorrow we host Marisa Ogles from the Community Foundation, where she serves as Vice President of Donor Services and Engagement. Marisa recently joined the staff of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga. With over 15 years of nonprofit experience, Marisa has worked for several nonprofits in a variety of roles including Fundraising Consultant, Director of Development, Director of Marketing and Communications and Executive Director. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Marisa has a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, a Master’s in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management, and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).

I look forward to seeing you at club tomorrow,
