Kristina Montague, managing partner of the JumpFund, was our featured speaker last week. The Jump Fund is an angel investment fund that is very unique in structure as it is comprised of only women investors focused on providing start-up and growth capital to women entrepreneurs. With $2.5million under management, the JumpFund is building a portfolio of scalable, high growth potential, women-led companies from across the Southeast.
The founders of the JumpFund are a group of female Chattanooga leaders who observed that the key players in the city’s burgeoning and dynamic start-up scene are mostly men, both investors and entrepreneurs.
In an attempt to answer the challenging question of “where are the women?,” the JumpFund provides the capital to create opportunities for women in Chattanooga and the Southeast to bring their strengths to the table. The JumpFund changes the economic landscape, the number of successful entrepreneurs, and increases the number of gender diverse teams in the region. Their vision is to establish the Southeast as the nation’s best place for a woman to invest in or start a business.
The JumpFund’s goal is to encourage women to invest in women to help grow women’s business leadership throughout the South-east. The JumpFund’s mission is to invest women’s capital in female-led companies with growth potential in order to generate a strong financial return and elevate the role of women in business.

Looking Ahead
Often featured in such publications as the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Businessweek, Harvard Law Today, and Vanity Fair, our speakers this week are Robert J. “Bob” Katz and Arline Mann.
Bob is a Senior Director of The Goldman Sachs Group, where he has served in a succession of senior capacities since 1988, including General Counsel and member of the Management and Partnership Committees. Previously, he was a litigation partner of Sullivan & Cromwell, a major international law firm. Bob currently serves as the Chairman of the Board at Harvard Law School and on the boards of Cornell University (where he was Vice Chair), of Weill Cornell Medical College, of the Allen-Stevenson School and of Achilles International, which he previously chaired. He is a recipient of the Anti-Defamation League’s Human Relations Award, the American Friends of the Hebrew University’s Torch of Learning Award, and Cornell Hillel’s Harold Tanner Prize.
Arline Mann retired in 2012 as a Managing Director of the firm and head of the Global Employment Law Group of Gold-man, Sachs & Co. in New York. Prior to her work at Gold-man Sachs, Arline was a commercial litigator at Sullivan & Cromwell. During her legal career, she was named by Human Resource Executive and Lawdragon as one of the nations' 50 most powerful employment attorneys.
Before attending law school, she was trained as a theatrical director at the Boston University Graduate School of Fine Arts, and worked as the assistant to a Broadway and London theatrical producer. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of The Ayn Rand Institute, and a member of the Board of Control of The Art Students League in New York, where she is also a committed painting student.
Please join me in welcoming Bob and Arline to our club!
GOLF TOURNAMENT NEWS
Only 15 working days until the big day! IT’S CRUNCH TIME!
Please call those outstanding “asks” and make your sponsorship calls ASAP if you have been putting it off! SERIOUSLY, this is the final stretch and we need you to pull it off! THANK YOU!!!
VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE: On May 5th, we will have a joint meeting with the Downtown Club to hear Senator Bob Corker speak. NO MEETING ON WEDNESDAY MAY 4TH AT HP
I hope that everyone has had a great start to the week! Our golf tournament is approaching quickly, so I wanted to provide a brief update.
Many of you may know that the ideal number of teams for our golf tournament is 28-30. Although we are still waiting for some of the money to roll in, I am pleased to report that we received our 29th commitment today!! I have attached this list below. Once again, I want to thank you for your efforts to make this happen!
Please remember that a full tournament makes for an exciting event, but much of the admission price for these teams simply goes to cover our costs (round of golf, $75 gift card, food/drinks, etc.). Hole sponsors and major sponsors are the key to a truly successful tournament! If you have not yet been able to land a hole sponsorship ($300), please consider sponsoring a hole yourself or asking a business you support to join us to support the scholarships and local projects of our club.
If I can help in any way, please let me know. Have a great day!
