Our Law Enforcement Recognition Event last week was a huge success!!! We had 74 people attending. We had 20 officers from the two departments and 14 additional Rotarians with guests. We weren't expecting so many additional Rotarians with guests. As a reminder if you are bringing a guest, especially to a special event, please let Kari or myself know so we can let Barry know how much food to provide. In addition, if you haven't been to a meeting in a long time please let Kari know as well. We have to let Barry know 10 days in advance of how much food to purchase and provide for us. Congratulations to the two recipients, Andrew Voss from the Sheriff's Department and Gene Nelson from the CPD.
We have two volunteer opportunities this week. Tomorrow morning February 3rd we will be making breakfast at the Ronald McDonald House. We start at 7am and usually finish in about an hour. All are welcome to come and help out. They have a real system in place! The second opportunity is Saturday February 8. Nooga Nights has a tree planting project at Hill City and Jefferson Heights. I will have flyers on the table so you can scan their code for more specific information.
Many new members have been asking for committee information. Alan Johnston, Membership Chairperson, has sent out information on all available committees. I will have a few committee moments at the next few meetings so the chairmen can get up and speak and give you some additional information. Being part of a committee is a requirement to change your red badge to a blue one.
Next week is our big Valentine's Day Program. The Magic of Love...Illusions, Illumination and Inspiration with our own Ken Hartley, Please invite your spouses, significant others to our event. There are sign up sheets available on all the tables and this Wednesday is the last day to let us know if you are bring a guest.
Don't forget we will be at our new meeting place this week: East Brainerd Church of Christ, 7745 East Brainerd Rd. I hope to see you all this Wednesday! Be proud to be a Rotarian. If you are not able to join in person please join us by Zoom.
