Dear Rotarians,

Last week we had a fun time with Trevor Matich returning as our speaker and having a little football talk in the offseason.

This week we have Rob Philyaw, Juvenile Court Judge of  Hamilton County and Denise Cook, Supervisor of The Hamilton County Juvenile Court.
Their topic of discussion and bios:

Topic: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are potentially traumatic events that can have negative, lasting effects on health and well-being.  These experiences range from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse to parental divorce or the incarceration of a parent or guardian.

An ACE score is a tally of different types of abuse, neglect, and other hallmarks of a rough childhood.  According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences study, the rougher your childhood, the higher your score is likely to be and the higher your risk for later health problems.  See ‘What is your ACE score?’ and learn more about ACEs at https://acestoohigh.com/got-your-ace-score/

Speakers:  Rob Philyaw, Juvenile Court Judge, Hamilton County for the past 4 years, and Denise Cook, Supervisor, Hamilton County Juvenile Court.  Denise manages the Hamilton County, Tennessee Foster Care Review Board program.

See you Wednesday,
Stan Russell
