Dear Rotarian,

Hope you are having a good week and have had a great weekend. Sunday was World Polio Day across the world - a day to focus on all the efforts underway to rid the world of this terrible disease. As you know, this has been the mission of Rotary International for many years and we've never been closer than now to eliminate polio. I received the good news that the Purple Pinkie Donut project exceeded its $1 million goal by raising $1.3 million! That is amazing and a great testimony to the generosity of Rotarians across our region. The final numbers for each individual club have not been communicated yet, but I know our club played a significant role in this and I thank you for your contributions.

Last week in our meeting we heard from Cindy Pare of the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation Scholarship and Zoe Hamilton who is a recipient of one of the scholarships. Zoe's story of the challenges she has faced as a breast cancer survivor were amazing. For a such a young lady to show such a wonderful spirit and a determination to succeed in her education to become a nurse were inspiring. Cindy's request to us was to help her promote education about breast cancer so that she can help even more women.

This week, we will hear from Demetrus Coonrod, District 9 Councilwoman for the City of Chattanooga. She will be speaking with us about efforts to reduce violence in our community. It should be an educational opportunity for all of us and I hope you will be there.

The following is the Zoom meeting link. If you have difficulties in accessing the online meeting, please contact Dale Rardin at 423-605-6790 (cell) and he will assist you.
