Dear Fellow Rotarians,
LET IT SNOW!
LET IT SNOW!
LET IT SNOW!
Boy, did it ever!!, I hope you all have enjoyed the white stuff and stayed safe and warm. It was pretty to look, and I have my winter fix now for the season.
We kicked off the second half of my term, as your president, last week with a great speaker, Ron Zirk from Zirkops who talked about gun safety and self defense. Thank you Mike Foos for arranging this very interesting speaker. Thank you to everyone who has helped make my first six months such a success. This club runs as group coming together not just one person. Let's keep up the good work and go out with a bang in June.
This week our speaker will be Melissa Blevins, President and CEO from the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. I know Steve Germ, our Community Service Chairman, has been trying to arrange for a volunteer opportunity for us at the Food Bank. Our club photographer and President Elect, Brad Cansler, will be available before and after our meeting to take photos for our Rotary Directory. This is in particular for our new members and any current members who would like to change their picture. No appointments needed, just show up early.
I believe our new Sheriff, Dusty Dischler, is back from special assignment and will be at our meeting this week. Welcome back Dusty, you were missed!
Next week's program, the 22nd, will be our Golf Tournament Kickoff. I'm sure Todd Gaither and Tyler Spry will have many details to share with us and assignments. This is a good opportunity for the new members to get involved with our club. The Prayer and Pledge person will be new member Warren Graber and our greeters will be Betsy Gibson and Stan Hildebrand. Please if you can't make it find someone to take your place.
The following week's meeting, the 29th, will be our Law Enforcement Recognition Meeting. Our Vocational Committee led by Joe V. Williams is arranging this meeting so please plan to attend all of these!!! Lots of great information, education and recognition will be available. We will be recognizing the Chattanooga Police Department, the Sheriff's Department and the Collegedale Police Department.
From our Secretary, Kari Shultz, our 3rd quarter dues are due and she has the credit card machine at the meetings. Finally, we will have a new meeting place starting at our February 5th meeting. Some of you know that Metro Tab Church will be expanding their school program and will need the space that we currently occupy. Your Board of Directors have visited and evaluated several places and have picked the East Brainerd Church of Christ. If you attended the joint meeting with the Kiwanis Club in December it is the same location. The address is 7745 East Brainerd Rd. Chattanooga. The entrance is around the back and is separate from the church. There is also a separate parking lot in the back as well.
I hope to see you all this Wednesday! Be proud to be a Rotarian. If you are not able to join in person please join us by Zoom.
