Dear Rotarian,

Hope your week is off to a good start.  It felt like fall this weekend and was absolutely beautiful Saturday afternoon and Sunday.  Looks like the rest of this week will include more of the same.  Try to get out and enjoy it when you can!

What a privilege we had last week to hear from Bill Nichols as he spoke to us about the Rotary Youth Exchange and how it has changed the lives of so many - both the students and the host families.  I received a nice card from Bill thanking our club for allowing him to speak.  We owe him our thanks for the work he performs to coordinate the Youth Exchange Program for our district.  He truly has a passion for the program and he challenged each of us to determine our passion within Rotary and to engage and make a difference.

This week we will hear from Cindy Pare as she speaks to us about the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation and its Scholarship.  I was not in Chattanooga during the time that Ms. Locher worked as a news anchor and health reporter, but I have heard and read about the impact that she had on many lives and her foundation carries that legacy to many deserving students even further.  I look forward to hearing about the work that the foundation is performing.

This Wednesday is Purple Pinkie Donut Day!!  Don't forget to pick up the donuts that you purchased at the store that you designated.

October 24 is World Polio Day - the reason for the donuts!  We will plan to take a group photo after our club meeting to celebrate all the giving and the work that our club and Rotary clubs around the world are doing to eradicate polio.

There will also be a board meeting following this week's club meeting.  All are invited.  You can find out about some of the activities going on as we prepare to serve our community in many ways.  Thank you all for your service to our club and to those in our community.

The following is the Zoom meeting link.  If you have difficulties in accessing the online meeting, please contact Dale Rardin at 423-605-6790 (cell) and he will assist you.
