On Tuesday August 16 Rotarians from District 5340 gathered for a night of fellowship at Paradise Point Resort. Vista Rotary represented with seven members in attendance John Viereck (President) Greg Schumacher (President Elect) Tim Aspell (Secretary) Barbra Lebsock (membership) Paul Phillips (community service) Dino Gunkel and Jack Dausman.  District Council is a time when fellow Rotarians get to know and meet other Rotary Club members and talk about what they are doing and possibly how they can collaborate together on a project, and also say thanks for all the great things they are doing to make their community better, and also across international borders to make this world a better place for all.
Thank You District 5340 for a great night! Keynote speaker Chief of Police Shelly Zimmerman was fantastic, M/C Courtney Kennedy (Coast Guard) did a great job and Benjamin Plache sang the national anthem amazingly inspiring.

We have moved to a new home at the Vista Village Pub. We feel this move will allow the club to get deeper in the community and help support local business as well.  We are excited to partner with Leroy Tardy and help take rotary into a new direction for the future.

We hope you join us for meetings starting in July as our new president Mac Ghaderpanah takes controlls for the next year

I just got home from the First Chili Cook off  at Oceanside Ale Works sponsored by the Rotary Club of Vista.
This event directly benefited the Boys and Girls Club of Vista
Patrons made a Donation and received a chili cup to try three very different chili"s.

First was a chicken chili vindaloo. Prepared by Tony Chahal.  A fusion of Mom's recipe from home. .. Punjab India and his wife's old family recipe from Davenport iowa.

Then we had Kiwi's Entry from OAW. Ghost pepper chili...two versions hot and mild.

He had the traditional toppings of sour cream and onion.

And non traditional  red ghost chili and Trinidad scorpion chili in case the Ghost

Chili was not hot enough

Rotarian Tim Aspell provided a blend of 7 Chili's. Starting with a vegetarian base. A bourbon barrel stout, chili bean base medley, a smoked pork butt that was smoked for 18 hours.  And a few other ingredients that if I tell you... Tim will kill me.

A great time was had by all and we hope to do it again soon

A special thanks to Rotarian John Viereck for Chairing this event.

Ensenada Clinic

For several years now the Rotary Club of Vista under the leadership and Vision of Mac Ghaderpanah
has been working with the Flying Sams of UCSD (medical students) to build a clinic for the needy families in Mexico
ble click on left side image to change it.
Month after month the clinic gains strength. Now with a patient waiting room, a triage intake, two exam rooms, a fully stocked Pharmacy and a dental clinic.
Not to mention a Library that is attached to the building that includes a computer lab with over 12 PC's to help students.

This little clinic is bursting at the seams however and we need to expand. Stay tuned for updates on the clinic and watch the photos as it grows

Rotary Club of Vista Strategic Action Plan

2012-2013 marked a year of change for the Rotary Club of Vista.

We saw a change from Afternoon Meetings to Evening Meetings

We saw a change in Meeting Location

A long time Rotarian left us to go to the great Rotary meeting in the Sky.

We also had the fortune to have the District office of Rotary help us with a Strategic Planning Session.

After a few hours the club membership had identified a plan for our club so I present to you our Strategic plan for 2013-2015
