I just got home from the First Chili Cook off at Oceanside Ale Works sponsored by the Rotary Club of Vista.
This event directly benefited the Boys and Girls Club of Vista
Patrons made a Donation and received a chili cup to try three very different chili"s.
First was a chicken chili vindaloo. Prepared by Tony Chahal. A fusion of Mom's recipe from home. .. Punjab India and his wife's old family recipe from Davenport iowa.
Then we had Kiwi's Entry from OAW. Ghost pepper chili...two versions hot and mild. He had the traditional toppings of sour cream and onion. And non traditional red ghost chili and Trinidad scorpion chili in case the Ghost Chili was not hot enough ![]() Rotarian Tim Aspell provided a blend of 7 Chili's. Starting with a vegetarian base. A bourbon barrel stout, chili bean base medley, a smoked pork butt that was smoked for 18 hours. And a few other ingredients that if I tell you... Tim will kill me.
A great time was had by all and we hope to do it again soon A special thanks to Rotarian John Viereck for Chairing this event. ![]() ![]() |
Ensenada Clinic![]() For several years now the Rotary Club of Vista under the leadership and Vision of Mac Ghaderpanah
has been working with the Flying Sams of UCSD (medical students) to build a clinic for the needy families in Mexico
ble click on left side image to change it.
Month after month the clinic gains strength. Now with a patient waiting room, a triage intake, two exam rooms, a fully stocked Pharmacy and a dental clinic. Not to mention a Library that is attached to the building that includes a computer lab with over 12 PC's to help students.
This little clinic is bursting at the seams however and we need to expand. Stay tuned for updates on the clinic and watch the photos as it grows
