Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District

Charles Moore is the Fire Chief for Truckee Meadows Fire District in Washoe County.  Truckee Meadows Fire District serves the unincorporated portions of our region with 130 paid employees, 60 volunteers and 15 reserve firefighters. He has 39 years of experience in the fire service and 30 years of experience as a Fire Chief. He began his career in Colorado in 1979 as a volunteer in Colorado and became a career firefighter in 1980.  Chief Moore came to Nevada in March of 2012 when the Board of County Commissioners hired him to start up Truckee Meadows Fire as a standalone agency after the Commissioners negated the contract for services with the City of Reno. He has established Truckee Meadows Fire District as a high performance advanced life support agency that employs highly skilled paramedic firefighters in 11 career stations in a service model that is financially sustainable.

Chief Moore has managed fire departments through 3 significant recessions and managed the department through one of the most active wildfire seasons in the region’s history.
