Aug. 31, 2023 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The Membership Engagement Committee invites you to a dessert and coffee evening.
We extend a special invitation to new and newer members, but of course all are welcome! We wish to help orient new members, as well as provide opportunity for support with the Criminal Record application process for any who may need it. And, this is also an opportunity for anyone to learn more about Rotary and their fellow Rotarians.
If you wish to bring a dessert or fruit or ? to share, feel free, but it is not necessary. We will be serving coffee (decaf included), tea (some variety) and cold beverages as well as dessert. If you wish to drink something stronger, feel free to bring your beverage of choice.
Please note there will be no lunchtime meeting that day. This is not a meeting, merely a fellowship opportunity. And also please remember, we have a dog. He will try to behave (fhat goes for Simon, too).

Here’s fun:
There are shelves that may need to be disassembled and reassembled, so any hand tools you can bring might come in handy. If anyone has plastic totes lying around the basement doing nothing, those would be welcome, too! Good idea to bring coffee for yourself, water, work gloves “2-3 hours”, says Linda… Many hands make light work, let’s get ‘er done! Lunch afterwards, perhaps… |

On this International Day of Peace, join us at the Friendship Centre to share lunch with and hear from local Indigenous leaders and elders. Our friends at Quesnel Tillicum Society have invited us to share lunch and stories.
Lunch will be stew and bannock for $15, proceeds to go to the Back Pack Program (tax receipts will be issued for $20+). Registration and prepayment is required - EMT RotaryClubOfQuesnel@gmail.com or email the same address to make separate arrangements.
Lunch will be served from 11am but latecomers are welcome (subject to registration and prepayment, of course).
Our program will include an Elder talking about Residential Schools and what we can do as a community to support those affected. For the benefit of our hosts, one or two Rotarians familiar to them will present their biographies (Sheila P is one - hers is a story not to be missed!).
Our Friendship Luncheon will conclude with a traditional First Nations ceremony…perhaps a circle of friendship and drumming.

Our Club will be participating in Rotary Youth Exchange for the 2024-25 school year. This means we will be sponsoring a Quesnel student to spend the school year abroad while, at the same time, hosting a student from oversees. Our application deadline is October 13th so, to find out what’s involved, come along to our Open House in the Rec Centre Boardroom. Ideally, our Exchange student will be in Grade 10 or 11 this year, but Grade 9s are welcome to come along, too. If you are unable to come to the Open House, ask your questions of Rotarian Tania Milliken (whose daughter spent 2022-23 in France) - 250.983.8895 and/or taniamilliken@telus.net |

Oct. 05, 2023 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Following their Book Sale, the Library will be undergoing their annual decommissioning of books - mostly out-of-date and worn out material. Every item needs attention to make it recyclable so that's what we'll be doing - removing the Library's metal tracking strip, protective plastic covers etc We'll be doing this in their multi-purpose room and it will be OK to bring in snacks and beverages...so we will also halt at 12pm in order to have our usual lunchtime meeting. If there are still books to be dealt with, we'll crack on after the meeting. Any questions, ask Linda T. Whatever time you can give will be appreciated.
