ABOUT RYLA
“RYLA” stands for “Rotary Youth Leadership Awards”. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend a multi-day camp to further develop these skills and instill the Rotary ideal of high ethical standards. Thousands of youth worldwide participate in this annual program. RYLA in District 5040 is comprised on three (3) separate camps in a “staggered” approach, and students are encouraged to advance through each of them! RYLA is also a great way to introduce other opportunities for youth in Rotary. RYLA Lakelse is for students in Grades 8 – 10.

LOCATION & TIMES
RYLA Lakelse is held near Lakelse Lake in Terrace, approximately 10 minutes by car from the Terrace/Kitimat Airport. Students will arrive on Thursday morning and afternoon in Terrace, and will finish on Monday afternoon. Participants from out of town will have various transportation options to take advantage of. Please contact Casda Thomas, RYLA Lakelse Chair for further information.

REGISTRATION
Cost of the camp and travel are paid entirely by the sponsoring Rotary Club. Clubs must submit their intent to send students, along with payment ($425.00 per person) by the posted registration deadline for each camp. This fee can be paid using Gaming Grant funds. Any registrant must be chosen and authorized by a participating Rotary Club using the provided materials. Registration is completed online using our District-wide registration system, which can be found on the District 5040 ClubRunner website. For further information and to have your questions answered, please contact the corresponding Chair of the RYLA Program you are interested in!
